Executive Director Institute—National Launch: Last Quarter, 2012

Lead for Good is excited to announce its next virtual Executive Director Institute to be launched in the last quarter of 2012. Nonprofit Chief Executives are encouraged to apply for this impactful six-month program that focuses on seven key competencies that support executives to unleash their great nonprofit leadership capabilities.

Past participants in a similar program offered by Lead for Good founder Karen Ramsey indicate the experience is life-changing.  It helps executive directors get clear on their strengths and how to better leverage them within their organizations. It also supports growth in the areas that need development and guides them to effectively communicate and create accountability among board and staff members.  By empowering others and more effectively delegating, many participants have enjoyed a better work life balance.  One participant said, “…Thanks to this opportunity I have both a new understanding and ability to lead our local organization and collaborate with others to positively affect communities for the future.”  Another stated the “program taught me what an Executive Director needs to focus on. I learned how to shift my priorities onto tasks that would lead our organization toward sustainability and greater community impact.”

Components of the program include:

  • Participating in a personality profiling assessment to determine gifts and strengths
  • Gathering feedback from key stakeholders regarding leadership strengths using a nonprofit-focused proprietary 360 feedback instrument
  • Developing a personalized development plan in partnership with a credentialed, professional coach who will then meet with individuals twice a month to support execution of the plan
  • Partnering with a seasoned nonprofit mentor, who is a former or current executive director, to complete a project of import to the participant’s organization
  • Attending monthly two-hour learning sessions focused on each of the leadership competencies critical to success as a nonprofit leader
  • Meeting and building relationships with other members of the cohort to establish long-term bonds and peer-support

Up to 10 professionals will be selected to participate in the six month program based on an application process to be posted in the next 90 days. The cost of the program is $3900, with the potential for scholarships to be available to offset a portion of the cost. If you are interested in more information about the next class and receiving the application once it is available, please contact Karen Ramsey.
